So, the unthinkable has happened….. Donald Trump, someone the media loves to hate, is going to have the final say on pressing the button(s) that could launch an armada of nukes.
Markets are crashing, pollsters are losing their contracts, money market managers are all over the idiot box predicting doomsday & more such blah blah blah. People are over-reacting.
My question to all of them is, “Does any politically elected minister, even if she/he be the head of the most powerful nation in the world, have any REAL power?” All the power rests with the bureaucrats, and that is not going to change dramatically, whoever be the US president. The policy makers are not going to change. And nobody, I repeat, nobody has the power to change the course of government policy drastically, be it Trump or anyone else. I am sure you heard the reconciliatory tone in Trump’s acceptance speech. Let us understand that, he cannot continue his electoral rhetoric when he enters the White house. That rhetoric is past its expiry date (8th November, 2016). It has done its job & he must be smart enough to understand that.
So why this panic? Financial markets needed some action and all these doomsayers are mongering fear to introduce volatility in the market so that they can laugh all the way to their banks, while we keep discussing/ forwarding posts across social media about the pros and cons of the emerging scenario. So, the media folks too will laugh all the way to their banks.
So what should we do? Just take a deep breath and let go. Watch a good movie using your Netflix or Tata Sky account……you don’t need 500/1000 rupee notes for that, plastic or your electronic wallet is good enough 🙂 🙂 🙂
